Zahir Mohamed, the founder and chef proprietor of Baked, is the sixth-generation artisan baker from Cape Town. Not only did he love watching his grandmother bake when he was young, but he also loved how she took care of people through baking. It was his grandmother who inspired him that it could be his way of life one day. In 2017, Zahir came to Hong Kong not knowing anyone with only a jar of 50-year-old sourdough starter and opened Baked.
