Us ‘Kongers love being outdoors, especially when a good meal and some drinks are involved. There are plenty of examples: Clockenflap, Wine & Dine, the AIA Great European Carnival, to name a few. But there has never been an event truly dedicated to the craft of dining... Or at least until now, and it’s everything you’ll ever hope for and more.
Taste of Hong Kong, an outdoor festival curating 12 of Hong Kong’s finest and hottest restaurants, will present to the foodies of the town a myriad of favourite and limited-edition dishes plus premium drinks for four days straight at Central Harbourfront. This is the first in Asia, and after so much buzz with all the Taste Festivals around the world (in 22 cities like London, Berlin and Sydney), we have very high expectations and equal amount of excitement.
We went for a sneak preview yesterday at a press event where they unveiled a portion of the participating restaurants and dishes, and we are happy to report that it’s abso-effing-lutely amazing so far:
Aberdeen Street Social - Raw Hokkaido scallops, dashi jelly, apple, shiso, avocado and wasabi puree
Amber - Ebisu oyster with seaweed, potato & shallot slaw in tomato cloud with chipolata crumble (our fave!!)
Duddell's - pan-fried M9 wagyu beef with scallion soy sauce
Serge et le phoque - Dacquoise - almond biscuit, vanilla cream and nougatine
Yardbird - meatball, tare, egg Yolk
Tosca - Tiramisù with limoncello
RŌNIN - sake tasting
Not pictured: Arcane's hamachi capaccio with jicama salad, confit fennel and ginger soy; as well as Tin Lung Heen's roasted Iberico pork char-siu.
There’ll also be opportunities to meet the chefs, join their culinary workshops or watch something at the Taste Theatre, plus of course, shop for gourmet and artisanal F&B products.
