Before it closed, The Excelsior was the place to go for your Portuguese Egg Tarts by Lord Stow's Bakery in Hong Kong. The very well known bakery from Macau is now celebrating its 30th anniversary and the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong hotel is organising a special pop-up counter on its ground floor.
Many many years ago I met and stayed at the bakery founder’s holiday apartment, so got to enjoy these amazing egg tarts every day and it has always been something I enjoy when I visit Macau. Thankfully from July to October I only have to walk ten minutes from my office to get my box of six!
From 1st July until 1st October 2019 the egg tarts will be available from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. daily in the hotel’s east lobby. They are HK$20 each and you can also order a coffee to go with them, at an additional cost.
