Hong Kong Food News & Reviews

Following huge popularity last summer in 2010, Hyatt Regency Sha Tin is bringing back authentic home-style Thai delicacies to The Café from 22 June to 10 July.

For those of you who haven’t been, Café is the hotel’s cosy and stylish all day dining restaurant with show kitchens featuring international and local favourites.

Also coming back to the Hyatt Regency is Thai Chef Siriluck Lekkwan (known in the industry as Chef Mum) who will prepare old Thai favourites from pad thai, to spicy tom yum soup. With 25 years of culinary experience under her belt, Chef Mum has won the hearts of local and international diners at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok with her sweet, sour and spicy flavours.

Start off with classic appetizers such as the Grilled beef with chilli lime sauce, Wing bean salad with minced chicken and chilli paste and Green mango with shrimp. Chef Mum’s famous Thai red, yellow and green curries are a must have. Our favourite was the Beef green curry which paired well with the shrimp rice crackers. Other hot dishes include Braised pork neck with five spices, boiled egg in dark soya sauce and Thai style grilled lamb chop.

Traditional Thai desserts at Café are another must have. Their sticky rice with mango on a spoon is super cute and tasty. Mango never fails to delight and their glutinous rice was rich in coconut milk. Our favourite was the Thai pumpkin custard and Thai layer cake. Make sure you leave room for the Banana in coconut milk. It’s literally bananas cooked in coconut milk so it’s like drinking banana coconut milk soup. This dessert had my eyes rolling to the back of my head and was the perfect ending to the meal.

Don’t miss out on this mouth watering buffet as it’s only available until 10 July next month.
