When we heard like many others that Grappa's Cellar was going to close, we were upset as the place had a lot of history and not only we had attended some great live music shows there, we also organised our own events there too.
Fast forward a few months we now get to see what BaseHall is all about. First impressions was that it felt a lot more spacious and well lit, with a ceiling that can change colour throughout the day and night. Music was playing, food was quickly being taken around the place and the long bar was busy with people that have recently left work. All the different food options are evenly spaced out in the lower part of BaseHall, with nice clear signage and what is available. Very quickly we dived into to try out the different menus and find out more about each of the different food and beverage concepts that are a key part to the launch.
The great thing about BaseHall is that there is such a wide variety of food and beverage choices there is always a reason to come back on a regular basis and the concept, food and drinks would never get old. Out of all the dishes that we tried on our first visit the Nasi Lemak stood out by Return of Lemak. I think this was because 1, it was very tasty and 2, we had not had Nasi Lemak in a long time!
Other food and beverage options that are on offer include: Honbo, Co Thanh, Treehouse, Cookie Dpt, Moyo Sik, BaseHall Bar, Westside Taqueria, Pub 1842 (by Young Master) and Roti Tori.
Tom Andrews, Senior Asset Manager at Hongkong Land Limited, explains how and why BaseHall is set to revolutionise Central's dining scene: "We took almost two years to choose our operators, searching across the city for the most exciting and upcoming talent. Our aim is to incubate new F&B concepts in Hong Kong by providing a unique platform for creative chefs to develop new offerings. We hope that BaseHall will become an exciting new dining destination for the Central office community as well as our LANDMARK customer base. The diverse mix of food and drinks as well as music and content will definitely create a fun space for our younger clientele.”
