The Hong Kong Jockey Club Presents Light and Shadows by Caravaggio and Contemporary Works by 4 Local Artists

After the great Venus by Botticelli came to Hong Kong last year during October 2013, not only were there immense noise being created, but so were thousands of local viewers educated via the effects brought by experiencing such a historically important painting up close. To continue the effects of implanting the rich culture and heritage from Italy to the local community with art; Italian Consulate Hong Kong in hands with Asia Society Hong Kong as well as the Hong Kong Jockey Club has successfully transported another magnificent work, ‘Supper at Emmaus’ by Caravaggio to Hong Kong for exhibiting along with 4 local artist works in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Former Explosives Magazine from the 12th of March to the 13th of April, 2014.

Lehmann Maupin presents Jennifer Steinkamp’s Large- scale 3-D animations

Freshly opened yesterday, Los- Angeles based digital media artist Jennifer Steinkamp has been invited to open her 3- D animation show at Lehmann Maupin Hong Kong from 13th of February to the 22nd of March, 2014. As one of the pioneers in the field, Steinkamp has been active in the digital rendering field for the past 20 years, creating projects that has been displayed within different architectural surroundings, physically challenging the notions of form and space with the awareness raised by her simulated works.

Absolut Collaborates with Nadim Abbas for Art Bar during Art Basel, Hong Kong

One of the most exciting young artists from Hong Kong will be partnering up with Absolut to build a nightly changing program of live music during Art Basel this May 2014. With Abbas’ artworks exploring ideas of perception and often taking inspirations from realms of literature, psychology and sciences; he will be building a post- apocalyptic bunker- like set titled “Apocalypse Postponed” for the event.

I’m one of those typical photo takers now a days; I snap everything with my mobile phone and have a gazillion filters to make it appear more professional than it actually is. I always wanted to try and use a SLR, since girls with SLR looks so cool; but then again, it is quite a big investment and commitment to make. Knowing barely anything about professional photography, and nothing about wild animal photography; this exhibition and seminar session held by Canon really opened my eyes and delivered quite an impression about the art in taking photos of wildlife animals.
