Art Basel 2014 Hong Kong Review

It’s another year of Art Basel, and this second edition in Hong Kong opens its doors to public on the 15th of May 2014, welcoming guests with 245 premier galleries from across 39 counties, with 24 of those having exhibitions spaces in Asia or in the Asia- Pacific region. With 171 Modern and contemporary art galleries taking part, with 20 exhibitions completely new to Art Basel joining in this year; there is also a first time show curated by Li Zhenhua belonging to the film sector, hosted in conjunction with Hong Kong Arts Centre.

Gallery With A Heart by Project Artist X presents “Still Movements” by Joey Lai

Hong Kong was first a fishermen’s paradise before becoming the dragon of finance in Asia; yet those who have grew up here seems to have completely forgot about the heritage and cultures that this land use to have. An actual descendant from Hong Kong’s native fishermen family, Joey Lai is working in hands with Project Artist X (PAX) for her first ceramic solo exhibition “Still Movements”, reminding those about the vitality of the ocean and at the same time, promoting for the preservation of the fishermen culture in Hong Kong via the social project Project Jumbo.

Davidoff Art Initiative Hosts Davidoff Art Dialogue “Art Collecting in China” in Collaboration with Beijing’s Ullens Center for Contemporary Art

The Davidoff Art Initiative in hands with Red Gate Residency from Beijing presents Pascal Meccariello, the first Dominican artist to travel to China in participation to the Davidoff Art Residency this May 1st to June 30th, 2014. Open to public, there will be a private studio visit on the 9th of May 2014 to showcase a delighting display of creativity from the artist.
