Looking for a refreshing summer dip that's not too far from home? Check out these top 5 luxurious pools to lounge by or swim in.

One of Phuket's most stunning resorts, Persa Phuket Resort has a glorious infinity pool on a cliffsides overlooking the Andaman Sea. To top it off, the pool is a romantic dinner destination offering five-course dinners on your personal "island", with a private violinist.

Marina Bay Sand's infinity pool in Singapore is another favourite. The pool is open to hotel guests only, and sits 57 stories high on the hotel complex in downtown Singapore, providing for spectacular views of the city.

Hanging Gardens Ubud in Bali also makes the list with a cascading split-level infinity pool. It appears to float above the wild jungle underneath, and features a giant geometric wall of solidified volcanic ash as well as a waterfall. For candlelit dinners, a separate floating deck can be booked.

At the villas of Alila Uluwatu in Bali, all villas include their own private plunge pools, but none of them come close to rivalling the main swimming pool. The 50-metre infinity pool overlooks the Indian Ocean.

To round off this list, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in  Nha Trang, Vietnam provides not only private personal pools for each villa, but also an amazing pool framed by the landscape.  The resort is tucked away in a private bay, only accessible by boat.
