Just in case you wonder, Yojimbo means “bodyguard” in Japanese and it’s the latest nightclub in Hong Kong.
Designed by Ashley Sutton, who’s the mastermind of Iron Fairies, J.Boroski and Ohphelia, Yojimbo is inspired by the energetic Ginza district in Tokyo where are all the stylish underground bars located so maybe it’s not a coincidence that they chose a underground area on Pottinger Street in Central as well.
Besides the sophisticated outlook, the music is brought to by Aaron James. At Yojimbo, James will work with DJs and musicians on concepts including “Samurai Night Fever” Saturdays, which will feature ghetto funk, electro rock and future house; “Discozilla” Wednesdays, a hypnotic combination of glitchy disco beats and indie nu disco; and “Harajuku Love Hotel” Thursday Ladies Nights, featuring a classic mix of hip-hop, soul, funk, house and techno.
For the cocktails also stick to the Japanese theme - Yojimbo, which is a mix of sake, gin, yuzu juice, grapefruit bitters and champagne that’s topped with edible flowers; Geisha’s Aphrodisiac, which features calvados, grand marnier, peach puree, lemon, vanilla, grenadine and red currant; and Ninja Shadow, a concoction of caviar infused Belvedere vodka, lemon, white port, elderflower, plum bitters and salt.
Yojimba is now open at Shop 2-7, Car Po Commercial Building, 37-43 Pottinger Street, Central. For reservation and more information, please click here.
