It’s flu season! With the erratic weather in Hong Kong that just doesn’t seem to make up its mind, it’s hard even for the healthiest of us to keep away from catching the flu. That’s why we found 5 quick and easy ways for you to detox, boost your immune system and be flu-free. Read on!
1) Take a bath
What you need: 2 cups Epsom salt, 1 cup baking soda, 5-10 drops lavender essential oil
Once a week, you can take a detox bath with the simple ingredients above to flush out toxins, reduce stress and improve sleep. All you need to do is relax and soak up the gorgeous smell of lavender for 20-40 minutes! Make sure to drink plenty of water afterwards as well.
2) Make a smoothie
What you need: 1 cup pomegranate juice, 1 cup kale leaves, 1 cup frozen mix berries, 1 tbsp flax seed
Forget about the expensive juices at Pret. Why not just pick up the ingredients after work and make your own? There are plenty of recipes on Pinterest for smoothies that boost immunity and fight flus, but we like this one (where the image is from) because of the simplicity and berry taste.
3) Sip on soup
What you need: red onion, garlic, celery, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, kale, purple cabbage, lemon (see full recipe here)
When it’s cold, there’s nothing more belly and heartwarming than a bowl of soup. This recipe of detox soup we found is vegetarian-friendly and oil free, which means it’s great for cleansing your digestive system. The ingredients also have all kinds of immune boosting abilities in them!
4) Do some jello shots
What you need: fruit juice, gelatin and honey (see full recipe here)
Who knew jello shots could be good for you? Of course, there’s no alcohol involved, but you can take your pick from all kinds of herbs and fruit combo to find one that best fit your body and taste. We love the sound of apple, cinnamon, and ginger, or apple and mint!
