Hong Kong Food News & Reviews

Running for 10 days between 3-13 November is the inaugural Elite Dining Week—one part of the delicious, food-fueled month that is the Hong Kong Great November Feast by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. A collaboration between DiningCity (the organiser of Restaurant Week) and the tourism board, 20 of some of Hong Kong's best restaurants are participating to bring tasting menus of their finest offerings. You know what that means? 10 potential extravagant date nights for you and your boo, from 20 restaurants to choose from. Read more to find the full list of restaurants and highlights.

The 20 participating restaurants were invited to take part on the merit of their Michelin-star status or were recommended in the guide, or have won other accolades. While Restaurant Week allowed diners to taste-test the top restaurants in town for a lower price than on its regular menus, Elite Dining Week will be focusing on celebrating the craft of the talented chefs, and there's a greater focus on creating a dedicated atmosphere for the diners. For instance, at Popsy Modern Kitchen (pictured), you'll get a touch of art with your meal: the restaurant is transformed into a Winter Garden Ruinart Room, complete with a chandelier made from Ruinart champagne bottles. This is an event food lovers will definitely not want to miss out on!

Menus are mainly for dinner, with a handful of lunch options available only. Prices for dinner range from $498HKD/head for a 14-dish Jiangsu/Zhejiang-style feast from Yè Shanghai at the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel to a cool $2,688HKD/head for a menu featuring a prized 28-head braised abalone from Yan Toh Heen at the InterContinental Hong Kong. Of course, it's not just Chinese options, and you don't have to cough up over a grand per head to impress your bae here (although of course a little generosity never hurt!)—there are very reasonable prices too for what you get, like a five-course tasting menu for $988HKD/head at On Dining Kitchen & Lounge, which earned a Michelin star just this year.
