Chinese medicine is an essential part of many locals’ daily life and I can see it spreading everywhere in the world (remember Michael Phelps’ cupping marks at Olympic 2016?) but it never came to my mind that you can combine Chinese medicine and skincare until I heard about 5YINA.
Founded in San Francisco, the founder Ervina Wu and Angela Chau both have degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. 5YINA skincare collections optimizes your skin to adapt according to the environmental stress and seasonal changes, therefore there are 5 series in the collection, including spring, summer, autumn, winter and divine (suitable for the transitional periods between seasons) - “We eat and dress according to the seasons, our skin surely deserves seasonal care.” Chau stated.
I tried the Lucent Summer Beauty Oil on my trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles last month and it can be rather sunny and dry in the west coast then the beauty oil came to save my life – it is a lightweight facial oil which contain American ginseng, lotus flower and leaf. It promises to balance, hydrate and improve appearance of pores. At night, after cleanse and misted up with toner all over my face, I use a drop of the beauty oil and warm it between my palms first and then I press it on my skin gently. Even though it may take a bit longer time to see the claimed results, I definitely can feel my skin is softer in the next day morning and my makeup application is smoother.
The series come with Beauty Oil and Hydrolat whereby the Divine collection comes with Bio-cellulose Mask and Beauty Balm.
